Sveta Nedjelja

Sveta Nedjelja is a village in the southern part of the Hvar island, located 12 km southeast of the town of Hvar. Sveta Nedjelja extends below the highest island peak St. Nicholas, below the caves inhabited in the Neolithic period, within which small Augustinian monastery was located in the Renaissance era. In Sveta Nedjelja there are vineyards from which the best kinds of Hvar red wines are made (plavac), while Zavala produces best white. In it there is a Biedermeier mansion Dubokovic Nadalini (19 century). Located at the foot of Saint Sunday is impressive beach with a cave on Patarscici. Further Gromindolac was formed around the tower Obradic John Bevilaqua, who has was awarded for his contribution in the defense of Split. He gained ground on the site and built a tower, which now belongs to his successors Machiedo family. The fishing area extends towards island Scedro and Lukavac. Perfectly preserved nature and the clear waters of Sveta Nedjelja offer a quiet and pleasant holiday.
